Note the carmine piping / margin on the upper edge of the shoot tip, and already-emerging scarlet anthocyanin on the sun-exposed side of the shoot. (this will darken to deep dusky cherry red as the shoot matures into the summer period. The lowest, entire / un-lobed, leaf is atypical; the balance of the shoot’s leaves will be 5-lobed in the classic manner of quality Pinot fine.
